oh yeah
Colemak still isn't in the keyboard layouts option there, gotta file a bug on that.
Why?
Why do you explain in so much detail all the options?
Average Joe needs to see how to select his language, and then click install and get a working system. That's it. Anything beyond that is not for average Joe. But anyone beyond average Joe, can figure those options him/her-self, because they're not afraid to read what's written on the screen.
It's supposed to be introductory, but whom for?
Who's the audience?
It was mainly just a test of
It was mainly just a test of the workflow as I outlined here:- http://popey.com/blog/2009/08/25/getting-back-into-screencasting/
There are all kinds of "Averge Joes"
I think including the detail is perfectly valid. During my public interaction with potential new users, I encounter plenty of "Average Joes" with disabilities, who are elderly and those with poor eyesight. Some of them are easily confused and intimidated, and knowing these options are available and what their intended function is helps put them more at ease with the process. For that matter, I even learned a couple of things I didn't know by watching this screencast.
Thank you!
Alan -
Thanks for posting up this screencast. I really appreciate the ones that cover the basics, and this one is especially useful for me, as I do a lot of advocacy and public outreach, talking to people about and explaining Ubuntu. I have downloaded this screencast and incorporated into a slide show that I use during these presentations, because one of the biggest worries/questions I get from people is what to expect when they first boot from the CD. Visual aids are always a great help, and this is going to be invaluable to me in explaining the process to the "uninitiated".
Thanks again. :)
