7.10 and command line

Hello,
could you do a screencast of 7.10 please ? Which activities need the command line and are not covered by the GUI tools?
thanks
Jani

7.10 and command line

Jani,

Luckily, the installation of Xubuntu is the same for 7.10 as it is for previous versions, so feel free to watch this screencast without feeling anything is out of date.

The installation of Xubuntu can typically be done entirely in the GUI; the only reason I cover command line stuff here is just in case you are trying to install on a very old computer on which you can't get a GUI to come up automatically. In these cases, all is NOT lost, and you can go into the command line and set it all up yourself. But by no means is it a necessity for a typical Xubuntu install.

Hope you like it. Any more questions, feel free to ask.

7.10

Hello,

I was asking because there are more apps to show off in 7.10 (network manager, update notifier)
As for cmd line I see, I thiught everyday tasks require it and was wondering what is missing GUI wise

I'm an active member in the Deaf-LUG UK - where members are deaf - I help nearly everyone in there with Ubuntu, and often refer to the screencasts here for some of them where English is not a native language for them (ie they prefer sign languages)

One issue I get with the screencasts is the lack of subtitles. I'm aware it take a lot of work to do screencasts but it would really help make it accessible for everyone if some kind soul could make a SRT file or something to go with the screencast video (ie to go with the Ogg Theora videos) so that deaf people can follow it (they can't hear the voiceovers).

Thanks

I don't know how to do SRT files but what about a txt file that has the dialog I would be willing to do one of them and if that one was easy enough maybe two but it seems that it would take along time.
