Why Ubuntu

Why Ubuntu

prounounce same

i pronounce ubuntu the same way as 'uh bun two' or 'uh bunch you' --> I hope I did that right.. :)

In other words, a ma

In other words, a maxim to this effect--were it to become law - that any object on which the will can be exerted must remain objectively in itself without an owner, as res nullius, is contrary to the principle of right.

Pronunciation

You might want to pronounce Ubuntu as its officially supposed to be pronounced: oo-BOON-too. Other than that, good job!

Heh

Thanks for leaving a comment, you might want to take a look at http://screencasts.ubuntu.com/MoS2007/01_Ubuntu where you'll see that I do explain that the official pronunciation is oo-BOON-too, but I personally don't pronounce it like that.

In my defence I'd say

a) It doesn't matter, you know what I mean, I know what I mean,
b) The vast majority of people I know - community members, employees of Canonical and non-ubuntu users pronounce it the same as me.
c) I think people get too hung up on how to pronounce things, and it can put people off when they constantly get corrected.

I know plenty of people who pronounce "Linux" incorrectly for example.

ubunu

i always pronounced it you-boon-too
